C'mon, People.

K'Andre Miller, future superstar D-man for the New York Rangers, was disgustingly attacked and subjected to racist comments during a Q and A Zoom meeting on Friday.

While answering questions for a slew of fans during the meeting, the chat box was hijacked and filled with numerous comments featuring horrible racial slurs. Miller was seen visibly surprised and momentarily shocked before resuming to answer questions for fans. For Miller to not only disregard the attack but to also continue to answer questions without much hesitation showed extreme maturity.

The NHL PR Department and New York Rangers released statements condemning the attacks and is looking into the matter to try and find the individual(s) responsible. Plenty of prominent NHL players and figures along with thousands of fans tweeted in support of Miller.

Maturity is cool and all, but the fact that Miller was even faced with this ugly attack is heartbreaking. The NHL has dealt with multiple racially charged attacks on players the last few years. Evander Kane was told to "stick to basketball" while in the penalty box in a game against the Avalanche just last season.

I could go on and on about how terrible this is and about how things need to change but honestly, its 2020. At this point, there's no need for explanation. It's pretty clear-cut. This needs to stop.

There's nothing edgy or funny about attacking someone based on their race. It's disgusting, despicable and if the perpetrator is caught, their identity should be released to the public and receive a lifetime ban from anything related to the NHL. Give them nothing to hide behind.
